Eurospace: EO overtakes telecom as Europe's top space revenue segment
Eurospace
Eurospace's 2025 report shows European space industry sales up 23% to EUR10.9 billion, with EO overtaking telecom as the top segment.
what happened
Eurospace presented its 30th annual Facts and Figures report in Milan on July 7, per SpaceNews. The report found European space industry sales rose 23% to EUR10.9 billion in 2025 from EUR8.8 billion in 2024, with employment up to 68,000 people. Eurospace managing director Pierre Lionnet said "Earth observation systems have taken over telecommunication as the main revenue segment for the European industry," with EO manufacturing sales surpassing telecom by 24% in 2025. ESA revenues rose EUR560 million (+20%), and Ariane 6 and Vega C flew seven times in 2025 versus three in 2024, partly on Amazon's LEO constellation deployment.
why it matters
A revenue-segment flip from telecom to EO as Europe's largest space manufacturing category confirms where European primes and suppliers are actually winning business, relevant to anyone benchmarking European EO manufacturing capacity or weighing supply-chain bets in the region.
