China confirms Long March 10C as commercial launch workhorse
CALT
CALT confirmed the methalox Long March 10C as its commercial launch workhorse after the 10B's first booster recovery.

what happened
China confirmed the methalox Long March 10C as its commercial launch workhorse following the Long March 10B's first successful booster recovery, per SpaceNews. CALT researcher Qian Hang said the 10C, which combines a larger liquid-oxygen-methane first stage with the 10B's existing second-stage module, is under intensive development and is expected to exceed the roughly 25,000-kilogram low Earth orbit capacity of the Long March 5B. An unnamed expert from the Chinese Academy of Engineering said the 10A, 10B and 10C are expected to form the backbone of China's future space transportation system, per China National Radio.
why it matters
A confirmed, larger-capacity commercial workhorse vehicle gives Chinese launch customers a roadmap beyond the newly recovered 10B, echoing how SpaceX scaled Falcon 9 variants while reusing a common architecture. It signals CALT is positioning the whole Long March 10 family, not just the 10B recovery demonstrator, as the vehicle Chinese commercial and government payloads will fly on.
