what happened

HawkEye 360 said July 17 it debuted a tactical direct downlink capability with Lockheed Martin during the Valiant Shield 2026 exercise, per the company's press release and Via Satellite. The pipeline relayed HawkEye 360's commercial RF signals intelligence collections to Lockheed Martin's CommandIQ edge processing node, generating track-custody data for systems including the Aegis Combat System. The exercise ran June 22 to July 1 across the Mariana Islands region with US Pacific Command and allied forces.

why it matters

A working machine-to-machine link between a commercial RF constellation and a prime's battle-management software is a template other EO and RF operators will watch: it shows a path from data sales to direct integration into a customer's targeting pipeline, a stickier and higher-margin relationship than one-off imagery contracts.
