what happened

The U.S. Space Force awarded All Points Logistics a $250 million Commercial Solutions Opening contract to design and build a new Spacecraft Processing Center in Vandenberg Space Force Base's Mission Development Zone, augmenting the company's existing facility at Space Launch Complex 2, per SpaceNews. The center, due by 2029, will include high- and low-bay processing areas, dual encapsulation bays and blast-rated hazardous processing capability, per SpaceNews and KEYT.

why it matters

SpaceNews reports this is the third and largest Commercial Solutions Opening award to date, after smaller 2025 contracts to Astrotech Space Operations and Blue Origin, expanding independent, launch-provider-neutral processing capacity as the Space Force pushes for higher West Coast launch cadence.
