ETL Systems acquired Amphinicy Technologies, a Zagreb-based developer of monitoring, control and modem software for the SATCOM and Earth observation markets, per Via Satellite. Financial terms were not disclosed. Amphinicy will continue operating autonomously within the ETL Systems group, including ongoing development of ViSAGE, its virtualized 5G-NTN gateway-as-a-service platform.

why it matters

The deal folds ground-segment software, monitoring and control, a wideband modem, and a virtualized gateway platform, into ETL's RF hardware business, ETL's third acquisition in the satcom sector in about a year after SpacePath Communications and IRT Technologies. For ground-segment buyers it is another step toward vendors offering both RF hardware and software-defined network stacks from one supplier.
