ESA and ISRO extend space cooperation agreement for five more years
ESA and ISRO renewed their cooperation agreement through 2032 and added space weather and human exploration to its scope.

what happened
ESA and ISRO signed an exchange of letters in Paris on Sept. 10, on the margins of the International Space Summit, extending their Cooperative Agreement for five more years, through Jan. 8, 2032, per ESA's own release. The agreement, in force since January 2002, continues to cover Earth observation, satellite navigation, space science, and mission operations support, and now adds space weather and human and robotic exploration to its scope, while also newly recognizing the sustainability of outer space activities, per ESA.
why it matters
The expanded scope formalizes ESA-ISRO coordination on human and robotic exploration and space weather for the first time, areas the two agencies previously handled outside their standing agreement; it signals continuity for joint programs even as both agencies lean more on commercial partners for launch and satellite manufacturing.
