Per Tribune India: Safran Space signed a 5 million-euro-plus deal to supply India's 52-satellite SBS-III surveillance constellation.

what happened
France's Safran Space signed contracts worth more than 5 million euros with India's Dhruva Space to supply communication systems, inertial navigation units, optical payloads and ground stations for India's planned SBS-III space-surveillance constellation, envisaged to deploy 52 satellites between 2027 and 2030, per Tribune India and Free Press Journal. The deals were announced among 51 agreements worth about 20 billion euros unveiled at the first International Space Summit in Paris on Sept. 9-10. The same summit saw French launch broker Ride sign to launch two satellites for TakeMeToSpace, described as India's first designer of orbital data centres, and French firm U-Space sign a commercial cooperation agreement with AXISCADES to explore India's microsatellite market.
why it matters
The SBS-III deal gives Dhruva Space, already a partner in India's Allied Orbits public-private EO constellation, a second sovereign-surveillance program anchor and a French supply chain for its sensor and comms hardware. For French space suppliers, it is a concrete foothold in India's fast-growing space-surveillance and microsatellite market, arriving alongside a wave of smaller French-Indian commercial tie-ups signed at the same summit.
