what happened

Simera Sense and IDOM said they will jointly develop and produce the MultiScape350 very-high-resolution Earth observation imager, with IDOM leading the optical front end and Simera Sense handling the sensor subsystem, electronics, thermal management, calibration and satellite integration. Simera Sense said it serves more than 50 clients and 60 satellite OEMs and research organizations worldwide.

why it matters

Optical-payload suppliers are consolidating their European supply chains as EO satellite orders scale toward Novaspace's projected 6,500 new satellites by 2035; pairing a small-satellite imager specialist with an established optics manufacturer is the kind of vertical-integration deal that lets smaller EO operators source flight-proven, very-high-resolution payloads without building the capability in-house.
