FEMA signs agency-wide hazard-monitoring subscription with ICEYE
FEMA moved from buying ICEYE satellite data event by event to a standing, agency-wide multi-year subscription.

what happened
ICEYE said FEMA awarded it a multi-year Hazard Monitoring subscription covering every FEMA office, providing radar-derived flood, hurricane and wildfire products across the full disaster lifecycle and extending derivative data to states during events, per the company's blog post. FEMA first used ICEYE data during Hurricane Ida in August 2021 and has since used it across more than 40 events, buying it disaster by disaster until this agreement; ICEYE said the subscription reflects five years of the agency testing and validating the data at scale.
why it matters
A standing, agency-wide subscription converts FEMA's satellite-data spending from one-off event purchases into recurring revenue for ICEYE, a procurement pattern other federal and state emergency agencies may follow as they build out their own commercial EO subscriptions rather than negotiating fresh terms after every disaster.
