Kapta Space raises $24 million Series A for moving-target radar payloads
Kapta Space
Kapta Space closed a $24M Series A to build low-cost radar payloads that track moving targets from orbit.

what happened
Kapta Space, a Seattle-based startup, raised a $24 million Series A led by Washington Harbour Partners and Bison Ventures, with MetaVC Partners, MYDA Advisors, Entrada Ventures, Aurelia Foundry and Fitz Gate Ventures also participating, Payload reports. The round brings the company's total financing to $30 million since its 2022 founding. Kapta builds moving target indication radar payloads using a modular Metamaterial Electronically Scanned Array architecture, and says it has secured classified MTI missions with the US government.
why it matters
The funding targets a niche between expensive traditional AESA radar and today's commercial SAR satellites built to image fixed ground features: tracking moving targets such as missiles, aircraft and ships. CEO Milton Perque says flight heritage is expected within 24 to 36 months via two demo missions, positioning Kapta to compete for the kind of proliferated DoD tracking work now concentrated among larger primes.
