OXG Space raises Rs 17 crore to build in-orbit edge computing for EO data

Bengaluru's OXG Space raised Rs 17 crore led by Aum Ventures to build in-orbit edge computing for Earth-observation data.

what happened
Bengaluru-based OXG Space raised a Rs 17 crore round led by Aum Ventures' India Innovation Fund II, per Entrepreneur India and Indian Startup Times. The company, founded by former ISRO engineers Akash Shetty and Sanjay Gorur, is building an orbital network combining 5G non-terrestrial-network-style connectivity with in-orbit computing, intended to relay and process Earth-observation data in space before delivering it to the ground as near-real-time intelligence. The funds back a 12-month program called Mission Synapse. Skyroot Aerospace co-founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Bharath Daka, and Cosmoserve founder Chiran Phanindra, also joined the round.
why it matters
If OXG Space's in-orbit processing works as described, it targets the latency between an EO satellite's pass and a customer getting actionable data on the ground, a gap several EO operators are trying to close with ground-segment automation rather than orbital compute. It is also another early-stage India space company backed by the country's existing space-founder network rather than outside capital alone.
