Tumbleweed raises €6.9 million in Austria's largest spacetech seed round
Tumbleweed
Vienna-based Tumbleweed closed a €6.9 million seed round to build Oasis Beta, its own atmospheric reentry vehicle.

what happened
Tumbleweed raised a €6.9 million ($7.7 million) seed round led by Pact VC, with Vanagon Ventures, Prototype Capital, EWOR and angel investors including SES cofounder Candace Johnson participating, Payload and Tech.eu report. The company's first satellite, Oasis Alpha, launched in July 2026 on SpaceX's Transporter-17; the new round funds Oasis Beta, a reentry vehicle targeting missions from 2028, plus at least three Pod payload missions in 2027.
why it matters
Tumbleweed is chasing the same late-stage payload integration and fast-return niche as SpaceX's Starfall and Varda's capsules, but at microgravity-research scale rather than industrial manufacturing. A crowded reentry-vehicle field gives research customers more price and schedule options for time-sensitive biological and materials payloads.
